i feel like a life failure

I was too. Same age. By 28 I was making 150k.
Jump jobs every 3 months and keep asking for more salary.
I went from 19/hr to 52k to 150k in two years.

im 24 and my pp big

hopping every 3 months seems a bit extreme, won't that look like a huge red flag?

>By 28 I was making 150k.
do you live in a low cost of living area? 150k is a college hire offer in california

I'm giving up a junior developer job to work in a warehouse so I have time to take care of my dog

You’re not a life failure, some people get better jump starts in life than others. We’re the same age, same job, and I probably am in more debt than you. Don’t let the dark clouds shield your horizon, just keep at it even if you stumble and fall along the way

I can confirm that going from a code monkey junior role to a real ass SWE job getting $100k+ will immediately improve your life satisfaction

you're in a fine position, especially if you're not in debt
stop being a faggot
comparing yourself to others is the ultimate mind poison
remember that lots of people who look rich and successful on the outside are actually nervous wrecks full of debt and gambles, hoping and praying that it all works out
ive seen it
and ive seen it not work out. suicides by jumping off buildings. leaving whole families to fend for themselves... it's sad

>34
>.NET "developer"
>stuck so long in a retarded communication output management system that I can hardly develop
>hate it
this is it for me, leave me behind

>30 year old junior project manager

i had one chance to make it in my 20s and i blew it

i make over 100k but i am still a junior code monkey.

>remember that lots of people who look rich and successful on the outside are actually nervous wrecks full of debt and gambles, hoping and praying that it all works out
yes, the tech sector is full of miserable losers who wipe their tears away with money

>31 year old level 4 analyst
All the other analysts on my team are fresh out of college and I’m the same age as my bosses but I got to experience several years of NEETdom that wagies literally sit around dreaming about in their cubicles and I still have a mid 6 figure net worth thanks to crypto so it’s not all bad. How often do you lads job hop? I’m a month into this role and only have 2 years prior industry experience.

imagine being 26 with a fairly useless STEM degree and I still don't know how to code.

You should feel better now

Same & same. Fell for the BSME meme at 17 and it was the biggest mistake of my life.
SWE chads, how do I make it? I have a pretty degree title for the HR roasties, I have a few years of (unrelated) experience... If I could find a solid education path I think I could switch careers.
Been learning python but I'm not sure if it's the right move, I've just heard it's handy for leetcode technical interviews.
At this rate I'm going to be living in tunnels with my current salary.

>29 year old jr engineer

to be fair most engineers i know my age are barely getting paid more than me because they stick with the same company getting 1-3% if they're lucky

Attached: 89y7huinjk.png (618x349, 402.53K)

are you me?

similar situation with me. the juniors are all college age and someone my age should be trying to promote to senior if they haven't already

>Been learning python but I'm not sure if it's the right move, I've just heard it's handy for leetcode technical interviews.
desu i found java to be much easier to interview in than python or js. but it's mostly familiarity. pick a language to grind leetcode with and stick to it

>because they stick with the same company
the last few years everyone is realizing how much money they're losing out on by doing so right now
everyone who is staying is doing so because they don't want to take the risk of getting a shittier but higher paying job

if you're an american software engineer, you should indeed feel like a life failure
especially for posting here

Do you guys enjoy wallowimg in selfpity and demoralisation?

>yes, the tech sector is full of miserable losers who wipe their tears away with money
more than you would think
i seen it

You're fine man. Senior engineer here, my advice to you is to not coast too hard. Don't stop climbing or you'll regret it later as you rush to make it up the ranks.

what i've seen is that the younger people live like overpaid college students and the older people are going through a mid life crisis

>30 year old software developer
>making 71k a year
>in low cost of living area so its pretty comfy, own house, car, can buy just about anything I want, go on cool vacations a few times a year
>enjoy my job and have fun at work with my coworkers
>get demoralized by my college friends making 150-300k+ at full remote jobs
>come to biz and get demoralized by people younger than me making 2-3x my salary

I love my job and don't know a single other person who does. All my friends hate their jobs and bitch constantly about them. Is it worth hating your job to 2 or 3x your salary?

It wouldn't change my lifestyle to have more money, I'd just be able to retire in 5 years instead of 20. But I feel like if I could afford to retire today, I wouldn't because I have so much fun with everyone at work.
