I'm never going to get an accounting job...

I'm never going to get an accounting job, should I beat up my accounting teachers in minecraft for setting us up to fail?

there used to be threads all over /biz of accounting anons exposing how jewed and inhumane that entire sphere actually is, especially the big 4 memes.

I hope you didn't want to work at amy of the cuck factories in your pic
>65+ hour weeks normal in "busy season"
>Busy season is client dependent, you could be busy all fucking year round
>Lower levels do whatever seniors and managers tell them to do which means working till 10pm regularly plus weekends (all while everyone under reports/eats hours)
>Seniors and managers are Stockholm syndromed into compliance as their last shreds of humanity are squeezed from them
>Senior managers and partners are hollow brain fucked to death shells of humans who get paid enough and live for the bonus cycles to keep them cartel running

t. know accountants who worked for these fucking scams

Basically do not fucking become an accountant. It's a miserable career path full of people bending over and getting absolutely reamed because no one has a fucking backbone to stand up for their own dignity and sense of work life balance. The majority of people who stuck with these companies are completely devoid of any personality. They turn their job at the company into their personality. I'm serious it's completely disgusting.

I would be perfectly happy at a smaller firm, but every fucking job wants "2 years of public experience"
or
"5 + years of quick books required. "
I do get interviews but never get fucking hired, because every one else is a jew lying on their resume.

Fuck
These are the only places willing to hire me as a stem grad

I just want to get an entry level accounting/finance job so I can make money to put more in crypto, is that too much to ask for?

also I think it hurts me that I'm a white male.
I got to second round interviews with BDO, and it was a two half hour zoom interviews, the first one was a male and he was basiccly winking at me that I got the job, then the second one was a very fat women, and she wasn't interested, and I could bet she would pic anyone she could first before a white man

I don't think I buy that. My friend worked for a mid sized company with just an internship and no other experience. He did that for about a year then went to public (working for KPMG) where he's been since. He's told me he's miserable and I've seen as much. He barely had time for anything anymore because of his job. He's looking to get out

Yes there's definitely the element of resume padding but like I said he had a private gig and gave it up for the big 4 experience on his resume. I don't think it was a good idea from my POV.

Anyway you can give these fuckers a chance if it's what you want. It seems like they mostly always need warm bodies no matter what. It's a fake prestigious job. It's mostly younger people in the level 1/2/sr roles so you'll at least not have to deal with boomers all day every day as teammates which is nice but from what I've seen there are so many egos and scumbags, all soulless husks of people, that I know through accountant friends that I think even that perk doesn't seem worth it.

I'm just trying to provide an alternative narrative to the garbage your professors probably fed you.

The other accountant I know is my fiancee and she literally has gone through panic attacks and depression for the last year because of how miserable her job made her. She's working at a growing company as a financial analyst now and is getting back to a healthy work life balance and is happy again. I wouldn't wish her experience on anyone.

>It seems like they mostly always need warm bodies no matter what. It's a fake prestigious job. I
yeah well I couldn't even get hired with them as a slave, so fuck my life.
>b. He's looking to get out
>ther accountant I know is my fiancee and she literally has gone through panic attacks and depression for the last year because of how miserable her job made her. She's working at a growing company as a financial analyst now
I mean yeah, thats the point, only a retard or psychotic stays in public, but you need something on your resume to get something else.
I'm just so depressed because I have my 5 year degree with enough credits for the CPA but can't get ANYTHING.
everyone always says "yeah don't go to a big firm I did that and hated it" but everyone who says that now has a job.

How are financial analyst jobs? I’ve thought about searching for those but I only have a year experience in AP/AR so idk if I would understand much

My buddy is a white man also. I think it's overplayed the reverse racism shit. I don't think it matters as much (probably company and location dependent though)
What is your STEM degree? Unironically learn to code and apply programming knowledge to a niche field and you'll be able to do make so much fucking money.
Biology + programming = bioinformatics and it absolutely prints. Don't fall for this shit, like I said they're looking for warm bodies. You will have a cucked career trajectory if you go down this path. You'll either work and get out in a few years at the cost of some sanity, fall for the treadmill and end up a corporate shill, or chew on the business end of a shot gun. It's not at all a good choice my guy, in my opinion (as a second party observer to whats been done to people close to me)

>but I only have a year experience in AP/AR
any tips in getting this job?
every listing I see says "one year of AP experience REQUIRED (underlined, bold, "will verify")
or "must have experience with (random accounting software package)

link it. never seen it under all the shitcoin threads.

I honestly don’t have any because I’m just working for my dad at the moment doing barely any house, but Im trying to find somewhere else too

That's fair. I can appreciate and understand your frustrations. Perhaps it's worth considering your resume & interview skills? Those are directly controllable qualities which affect your ability to land a job. Do you have any alumni resources to leverage to help with those? Or other friends in the industry you can lean on to help criticize and practice with (or even give you referrals for a position?)

Do you have bad grades or something or lock up in interviews? I would try to be as honest as possible with yourself about what you have the ability to control and improve and make it a goal to work on those.

You seem like you know the deal and are intelligent so I'm guessing it's just some misdirection but also yes an element of bad luck. Its all right to feel bad especially if you've tried many times and haven't landed anything but I think it's also worth considering if your approach can be improved.

I'm sorry I can't be more of a help because honestly I know what your frustrations are like.

I am STEM grad at one for a few months now. It’s not bad so far, only one day have I had to work 10.5 hours. My field has ups and downs in terms of workload and I’ve spent days just playing vidya instead of working.

Though I have heard accounting is totally fucked.

i never even considered the big 4 meme. Now I'm a neet with a bachelors in accounting and I need to get a job. My resume is very sparse, barely fills half a page if that. My entry level shit tier job awaits me

Lol you want to be an accountant?

I have a PhD in physics and have not had a single interview in 3 months of a job search
I want this country to get nuked, unironically.

I think it's dependent on the company... The term financial analyst is pretty broad. Basically though fiancee likes her gig now because she basically leverages company data + excel to provide quantitatively backed up claims about what should be done. Her previous experience with audit has given her a lot of general understanding about company financial metrics, what they mean, how they should be scrutinized and interpreted, as well as a lot of Excel practice lol.

She's a CPA but really is doing a much more general purpose financial role now.

Anyway she was fortunate to land at a great company which I think also helps to make the role worthwhile. This provides some credit to I think her big4 experience made it a smooth and easy transition to get the industry job she's in now vs someone who didn't come from it. But honestly she was overqualified for it by the time she left big4 and landed it...

Christ man. What the fuck did you get a PhD in physics for anyway? Is it not possible to be a professor?

Or do what I said and learn to code (you probably already know a bit) You're obviously smart as fuck so you should be able to compleley shit on the majority of most software engineers.
What's your title/what do you do? Not an auditor/tax accountant?

>. Perhaps it's worth considering your resume & interview skills?
yeah, I'm sort of ugly, I control it as best I can with dress and hair, but a life long experience of being a beta have left my first impression personal skills a b-

My Mrs works for pwc UK but now it's the bought out company by the new York based investment company

Working there is OK, pay quite low, benefits such as maternity leave are good, culture is toxic behind closed doors but only at a really high manager slash director level
