Let's just appreciate the situation the US finds itself in..

Trillions in debt, rising inflation and nations moving away from using the usd as the reserve currency and trading with it. No appetite let alone money for a drawn out war with Russia.

Comparatively as i understand it Russia has very little debt compared to the US, has amassed a fairly substantial holding of gold, euros, Yuan and usd.

Russia also has partnerships with China and India to supply them with oil to mitigate sanctions.. Add on to that its wheat exports which will soon add up to about 30% after it secures eastern Ukraine..

Something tells me the Europen market which relies on 40% of its gas from Russia can't cheaply or easily source that elsewhere.. Nor would they want to do so in USD..

I think the US kinda fucked this.

The absolute and critical turning point will be if Russia comes out of this exporting to Europe, China, India etc in euros and not USD and excludes the US unless the US agrees to trade in euros..
