Very depressing. Boomers could have bought this same house new in the same location for $300,000 in 1999. Now i am forced to buy some "cheap" affordable shit hole house that was built in 1980 that costs 1.5 million. I don't get how people are affording this shit

same. I spent a few years changing careers to IT and i'm making over 3 times what I'm making just 4 years ago, but now housing is up so high that I can't afford anything. Well, I can technically afford a house. I just really have no desire to spend 75% of my income on housing and likely find myself underwater when the inevitable crash comes. Not only that, but inventory is so low that houses are only on the market for a few days at best.

This is what amazes me. People said that the housing craze would slow down. It hasn't. 30 Year mortgage rates are now 4% average and I see 2 million + dollar homes going under contract after a week on the market. Its pure insanity or everyone has fuck loads of money somehow. Im feeling priced out user. Its really getting to me mentally

same. i have a family too, and thought for sure we'd be able to stay in this town. It's a traditionally blue collar town on the east coast, but all the fucking remote city people moved out here because it's a good mix between rural and suburban. I'm about to bite the bullet and just ride it out, but my biggest fear is in 2 years i'll be under water still paying an extraordinary monthly payment for a house that lost $100k of it's value over night.

In Northern Europe, you can buy a new eco-regulated apartment (wooden house with one apartment downstairs and one upstairs) for 100 - 400 $ depending on the amount of bedrooms. Is it nothing like this in Murica?
