They do this at my job too. Always makes me uncomfortable and suspicious. I think that if you're even halfway competent, managers will shower you with unwarranted praise at every turn, not because they believe you deserve it, but to try and get your trust.

Your supposed to do the menial bullshit for them for a few months until they get more comfortable with you. After that they'll start teaching you. Just message them telling them you'd be happy to help if they need anything. If they say they're busy that's fine, they'll eventually give you something to work on.

I hope you’re right user they’ve already assigned tickets to me in our ticketing system regarding SAP issues and I’ve never even used SAP and I feel like a retard every time a manager asks “are you familiar with whatever random software” and I just say no and starting meetings with senior levels of the team that are like “uhhhhhh didn’t so and so set you up with xyz? Yea click that button and maybe have him do this and this for you.....” a million meetings and getting fire housed with technologies I’ve never used is intimidating for a midwit such as myself.
Everyone expects you to be a retard in the beginning its not a big deal. Watch some basic youtube tutorials and learn some of the basic terminology even if you don't know what the fuck any of it means. That way when they ask you if you're familiar you can just say something like "do you mean the X and Y features? I'm familiar with them but not too much...do you mind explaining them to me a bit?" This shows that you have basic knowledge which they like, and it shows that you're willing to learn more which they also like. That way even if the entire conversation is practically useless and you don't actually learn anything, you've now built valuable rapport with your team that will be valuable to you later on.

Yeah, but since then I've been working at home for extended periods and there's been a lot of people churning. A lot of the people i work subscribe to the idea of wage slaving for life and believe they aren't replaceable.
