If I steal your keys, I will send them to a new wallet and sign "I think this wallet is compromised, so moving my BTC".
What will you do? You "decentralised" crypto genius? You will go back to your KYC exchange or credit card provider to link the funds to your identity to prove they are in fact yours, claim them as stolen and attempt to recover them.
"Not your keys, not your crypto" is a meme for low IQ people, don't let them fool you. It only works until the El Salvadorian mafia or a simple burglar steals your keys and/or tortures your family until you hand over your keys.
hold on, so you are saying. if you know the keys... then you have the coins? hmmmmmmm

>link the funds to your identity to prove they are in fact yours, claim them as stolen and attempt to recover them.
and they can transfer my funds back to me if i do this ?

kek what a retard take god bless biz

In crypto... not yet? Who knows what the future holds.
A custodian (for example a Bank) is a safer choice, because if it gets robbed or I get hacked, the insurance will help and the police and government will be on my side, too.
Samuel Hill
Imagine this bank was ukrainian >the police >the government Hmmm
Owen Diaz
Then you will be in the same (bad) place a crypto person is in all the time.
Tyler Kelly
>the insurance will help and the police and government will be on my side, too. good goyim
Dominic Ward
nobody has to know you own crypto dumbass it could all be in your head
Oliver Green
It will be a much better chance of getting justice than for you, cause you won't get shit and have no hope of anything. Or well, you might eventually get it back... from the police and government :)
not your keys not your crypto is a statement of fact if you wish to take on the risk of third party custodianship, that's your business

In a country where crypto is currency, burglars will routinely check for private keys and hardware wallets. If they can't access the funds, they will throw it away and you better hope you made a backup somewhere :)
Nathaniel Baker
>post nose Can't, as obviously doesn't fit into the frame
It's a meme that started when lots of people lost their crypto in Mt Gox.
Oliver Stewart
I literally just want to store millions forever and never use them, and keep my non-crypto funds in a bank or at a nigger's house for all I care.
Nobody knows I have crypto, except the onranmp and they don't give a fuck.
Once I have my bitcoin I can mix it, monero it, doesn't matter, I'm not spending it, but it's mine.
Stop moving the goalpost, if your million is in the bank, and my million is in my head, my million will forever be safer than yours. The entire world economy could collapse, my million is safe until I die/get tortured, your million is linked to the system's financial stability, and we all know how that worked out since the dawn of time in a crisis.
William Baker
It's literally this simple. If you can find all my horocruxes and then get my passphrase out of me beyond my duress passphrase before I manage to hide the coins again, I suppose you could win. But at that point why not just rob a bank or hack an exchange (i.e. a centralized keeper of money)?
Liam Nguyen
>lost their crypto in Mt Gox. And what is the current "FUD"? It's Mt Gox people getting their stuff back. Without the police many here hate so much this would not be possible. Same for Bitfinex hacker funds.
The likelyhood of a world collapse event is much smaller than a burglar making his rounds through your neighborhood, or a hacker through your computer.

Financial independence also means that people start to take responsibility for their own finances and not call for the state or the banks because of every little thing that goes wrong.
When we protect our children from every problem and emotion, it creates a sense of entitlement and inflated self-esteem that often crosses the line into narcissism. They expect life to be easier than it is. They want everything done for them no matter how they behave.
If people do not learn to take responsibility for their actions, they will remain mental slaves forever. If i lose my cash, i better watch out next time.
Jose Brooks
>If I steal your keys Then they are your keys and its your crypto now. Are you fucking retarded?
Lucas Edwards
Slippery Slope lmao, that's a big step you took there to connect something that makes sense to something that doesn't.
We used to have self-custody and it was bad because of Loss and Theft, so we moved to custodianship. We will again for crypto, because it is better, in fact many already have via exchanges & idk BlockFi-esque things.
