I have this problem now. Working with 5 startups and I have to - due to corporate culture - to use (and carry) 5 laptops. This is killing me, fortunately the solution is near.
Where to start? Isn't it too late to get into programming after the age of 20? People on Any Forums make fun of everyone who wasn't a programming at 14.

If indians can (barely) do it, so can you. There are a myriad of resources online, and all sorts of autists will point you in every direction. Honestly, it does not fucking matter, just pick one and stick with it. Start now, right fucking now. Pour all your free time into it, and you will succeed. This is what I personally started with. learncodethehardway.org/ Python, then C, and after that you should be able to figure it out on your own. Just start right now, and do it every day. Once you've learned, just lie on your resume and swagger yourself into a junior role.

I'm in Application Security, fairly technical IC and unfortunately a lot of my career options involve actual work products. I've spent time on the help desk so I'm wondering if I can do 3-4 of those easily and make up my salary. Don't have a lot of experience on the PM side.
can anyone here who is doing this currently answers some stupid questions for me? i grad uni in spring and my parents say "yOu WiLl Be LoNeLy aNd wOnt MeErt aNy1." like idfc that i wont meet or have a beer with boomers. Im 23 im not hanging out with fucking boomer coworkers- as for meeting girls thats HR violation as shit anyways here are my questions
>is it legal? >do you really prefer this over in office >is it boring >worth it? >whats the easiest gigs to get? >part time or hunt full time? >can i be thrown in jail, sued, or taken to court over this

I make $165k at my main job and have second job that gets me $30-35k annually. Is this worth my time?

>is it legal? it's likely to be legal wherever you are. companies can't set laws, only contracts. you might break your contract, but you won't break the law itself
>do you really prefer this over in office you're not comparing like with like. the choice isn't social life of office work vs. social life of WFH: the choice you're making is 2x or 3x or 4x salary vs 1x salary (+ optionally office social life)

stop creating these threads, the less ppl know about this the longer we can run this racket.

i would contend that most jobs which allow you to work multiple other jobs at the same time aren't likely to be thrilling. counterfactuals i could think of would be concurrent advisory/consultancy roles, but multiple roles is the norm for those sorts of careers. advisory positions heavily skew senior, too
>worth it?
depends on money
Zachary James
>whats the easiest gigs to get?
software dev/sysadmin/site reliability engineer
i am a product manager and would not recommend trying to go OE as a PM. i have a lot of meetings to juggle, annoyingly i'm the one setting a lot of them too
>part time or hunt full time?
up to you
>can i be thrown in jail
jail - no, unless companies can set criminal laws where you live. sued - incredibly unlikely. just be careful about confidentiality and intellectual property, then even if you are found out the worst that happens is being fired rather than sued

i hate middle management product managers, useless kiss ass non technical non contributing all talk no work garbage meeting whoring pieces of shit :)

thanks user. my mom is making it out to be like i wont meet people and will be a shut in but the way i see it (i want to go into remote sales for the defense industry) id be making more money than taking up the faggot office jobs ive looked at

if you died tmrw, what impact do u think it will have on ur company?
Eli Nelson
on company 1: nothing (but nor would anyone in my team of any discipline impact anything, it's a shitshow)
on company 2: a bit
on company 3: not much
the beauty of OE is that you can work at really ramshackle companies with terrible product teams and get away with it for so long and then when you actually occasionally need to do real work the standard is so poor that you can half-arse it and it's exemplary

I don't want a second full time remote job but I kind of want a part time evening job. Does anyone moonlight as a bartender?
Aaron Rivera
lmao, honestly, fair game. good for you.
but it just adds to my hatred and seething for ppl in ur position
altho im also OE'ing anyway

how can i get hired at company 1? wanna PM me pls? i'll give u kickback if i get hired lol
Lucas King
if it's any consolation i am first to admit i do nothing and i also hate other product managers
i remove all of the unnecessary meetings umm-and-ahh workshops and stuff from the teams i work with and the result is that being a PM really is not a full time job
my dishwasher broke this morning and it was genuinely the most intellectually demanding problem i've had to solve in months
