A competitive system is hugely inefficient, countless business are re-inventing the wheel in ways that it doesn't validate some IP (another bullshit concept), and then all the industries supporting it (catering/builders/post/etc). With shared R&D and no patents the average work day would drop to about 2 hours max, and countless resources wouldn't be wasted on inefficiency.
People so much free time they can actually choose to pursue what fulfills them in life, instead of being stuck with a ball and chain for at least 40 years and then can retire when they're burned up.
Can't wait for the first R&DAO that funds and opens up research in various fields.

This is false in an industrialised society, only 12% of people work in agriculture, increase that percentage by a little bit and you get both production and processing of agricultural products. Further yet if you count in distribution such as retail and logistics, you still won't pass the 30% mark.
