I don't get something.
The unique node list contains trustworthy people who take care of the network. But if this list will contain people who collude against us, they would be able to fake transactions and spend our money without us having to approve it. This means that governments and institutions can collude against its citizen and spend our cash if it is a national emergency. Why would that be good, especially if some higher ranked people from ripple have spent some days in antactica few months ago with Klaus Schwab to probably set up this controlled unique node list? Isn't it sure to say that xrp will loose in the long run because it is actually a pure globohomo coin and people will riot against a system that is able to seize their money?
There is no 'the' Unique Node List, every single node on the XRPL has their own respective/configurable UNL. The trust involved is so scattered around multiple entities on a permissionless ledger.
