Most people subconsciously seek information that makes them feel good. Bears are often poor and stupid, and they feel (correctly) that they'll be priced out of equities forever. So they HOPE the market will go down, and they seek out confirmation of this hope while mindlessly rejecting all evidence to the contrary.
