Imagine thinking people will use the word cannister in the future.

I find it hilarious how they're trying to push "The IC" now that they realized how dumb their ticker is.

Allow me to educate you newfags.

>If you aren't familiar with the oracle problem, it's a very important problem that blockchains have not been able to solve for themselves, and thus projects like Chainlink have sprung up to provide solutions. The oracle problem describes the issue of getting data into the blockchain securely. Once data is inside of the blockchain, it gains all of the properties that blockchains provide (decentralization, security, credible neutrality, all of that). But the problem is how do you securely input that data to the blockchain? If your data source is corrupt then it doesn't matter how secure the blockchain is after inputting that data.

>Chainlink's solution is to create a framework that allows for oracle-specific networks to come to consensus on real-world values, and then to submit those to the blockchain. Take a look at the ETH/USD Chainlink feed: data.chain.link/ethereum/mainnet/crypto-usd/eth-usd
>There are 31 independent entities acting as oracles, a minimum of 21 need to respond, and there are other parameters that can be set. The

>IC provides a lot of this out of the box. And with the addition of being able to initiate http requests from canisters, it will become extremely simple to spin up oracles that inherit all of the security properties of the IC. Imagine for the ETH/USD price feed. Just create a canister that uses ~5/10/20 APIs, averages them, performs whatever checks are prudent, and then stores the final value as the official oracle answer. The independent entities and BFT consensus just come with the IC. These oracles will be extremely simple to write, anyone can write them, and they'll be cheap to deploy and maintain, possibly much much cheaper than Chainlink...and the whole oracle system will be much simpler. This is extremely exciting, and I can't wait to push out a prototype ETH/USD oracle on the IC once http requests are enabled.

Are you thinking of ICP?
>insane clown protocol

If ICP deplaces LINK I'll never stop pissing myself with laughter.

See

To be fair, the one advantage chainlink has currently is it's ~1,000 integrations already in place. Given how much more efficient and simpler ICP is, this is only a matter of time before other chains switch over.

LINK was never the dominant oracle provider in the first place.

It's fucking SCAM!
