The truth was nxt was being boosted by a portion of the aew audience switching channels during the commercial breaks. That's why they also kept insisting on doing the overrun. A desperate attempt to catch aew fans, in the hopes they'd watch more nxt next show. Now aew and nxt have diverged in terms of both timeslot and content, there aren't many aew fans left watching their show.
