Does anyone else get an uncanny valley feeling from Americans? I don't mean necessarily from their appearance. Some of them look human. Blonde or brown hair, green or blue eyes, and pale skin. Just like you or me. But there is still something "off" about them. Their mannerisms, the way they do things, their "culture". It feels like an imitation of human culture. Like they are a set of alien creatures aiming to disguise themselves from the planetary natives, but just can't do it.
For example, wealthy Europeans tend to move into old or stylish houses, while Americans move into McMansions. Europeans tend to eat traditional dishes or recipes, while American eat mass produced goyslop. Europeans are ethnically tied to countries; their borders are based on historical precedent while Americans squat on a piece of land and only economic factors determine where they live on it. European cities spawned from the daily needs of the people living there, American cities were haphazardly planted and planned.

For generations, we've been absolutely inundated with film, radio, television, internet, social media, etc. and constantly exposed to all the best that's out there and told that we can achieve it ourselves if we just reach for the stars from here in America. For some, it's true; for most. it's largely bullshit to sell us something. But we're so saturated with it, that most of us can't help but buy into it and chase the dragons we see through imitation and by faking it until we make it... or don't.

my time spent in europe, we cooked all the damned time, for starters. good food too. i admit, our suburbanites are a little wierd, liek whatever the hell is oging in arizona, but short of not being all that communicative and standoffish, i know my fair share of decent folks.
i lived in the uk, and outside the uk, brits always simply talked way too much, to the point of not understanding social cues and becoming a laughing stock when their backs were turned.
also, we're way younger of a nation, and of such a magnitude in scale that its a suprise we're even remotely similar on the outside.
