NorCalfag here. this is BS - we won't have a "Big One" for a long while.
this is because we have earthquakes literally EVERY fucking day.
they are small earthquakes, but what happens (according to seismologists I know) is that these small earthquakes relieve the pressure that builds up in the vault.
point is:
if there's a bunch of earthquakes = no BIG earthquake (pressure being released)
if there's NO small earthquakes = Big one coming
so no, we're still good precisely because there's more small earthquakes

There was a bad one in 1989 as well. I developed severe anxiety in childhood due to the propoganda surrounding "the big one". News and school was crazy. Teachers had us write letters to our parents and our parents write letter to us incase it happened and we all got trapped so we could be "comforted" a friends school has them make shoeboxes of things that comforted them.
