partially

I never studied portuguese, I can understand about 40% of what Brazilians say. When reading it, I can understand around 75%.

european portuguese (spoken) is a lot harder, though

I think I heard it's easier for portugeezers to understand Spanish than the other way. I can understand most of what they say if they speak slowly enough, which Brazilians never do

As far as I know Spaniards have a harder time understanding them than the other way around. Might be false tho

It's true. We can "fully" understand them, they can't say or understand a single word of portuguese.

When we go to their country we either speak spanish......or spanish, since they don't know any other language.

When they come to Portugal we usually speak in spanish with them. Is not that hard..."mira coño, qué pasa?"

>Can Portuguese speakers understand Spanis
Yes.
>, and vice versa?
No.

Any portuguese speaker can understand Spanish but not the other way around. The reason is bc Spanish comes from Gallego-Português. Similar to slavonic and the slavic languages.

>, and vice versa?
>No.
Tenho a certeza que compreendes isto caralho xD

SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

A ler talvez, mas a falar tá queto.

Now I see my power lvl... Good to know. Also, in my experience I've never had any difficulties speaking portunhol (a mix of spanish + portuguese) whenever I needed. I use it mostly to curse spanish speaking people online, not so much irl. A curious thing is that spanish curse words sounds funny as fuck to us and not offensive at all, so we can laugh at them and mock spanish speaking people, and they don't even get what's happening. They simple get ultra buttmad sometimes. It's also funny when they are cool and speak some portuguese words to have a fun time.

No. Portuguese has more sounds than Spanish, so it's harder for the spanish to understand. Whereas to the portuguese, it just sounds like they're speaking portuguese in a really shitty accent.

Do you understand Galician?

Espanhol falado da Catalhunha ainda dá um nó no cérebro, quanto mais para Este mais difícil é xD

This is exactly the stuff we didn't learn in school top kek. Any brazilian can understand Gallego and the dialect spoken in the Northeast is the closest one with the original Portuguese spoken by Camões or Pero Vaz de Caminha. Check this

Pretty much. Though when you get used to the sound changes for Brazilian Portugese its very easy to understand. European Portugese is way harder but still easier then French by a longshot. Though imo Italian is easier to understand.
Latin >powergap>Italian>spanish>portugese>>>>>>romanina> powergap> fr*nch

you're an idiot and a nigger. The end.

I can understand brazilians if they speak slowly, but when I hear someone from portugal I'm completely lost.

I learned portuguese, if you speak spanish learning it will be very easy. I can understand 99% of what’s written and can understand very well when spoken and I can speak it. I never understood why portuguese is not taught in countries bordering brazil and vice versa. And also knowing portuguese and spanish makes it incredibly easy to understand Galician, I can read Galician and hear it and understand perfectly but cannot speak it as that would mean to learn a whole new vocabulary.

Yes, 95%.

mfw I can understand around 40% of what a Romanian person speaks. Latin really is powerful.

Can Bazilians understand portuguese from Portugal ?

Most of the times, but not always (at least me).

We also have our own pronounces which are even harder than the normal ones, like Azores or Madeira pronounce. Even for us, sometimes is hard :D

Replies from the most nigger country in the world. *laughs*

Brazilians sorry

I understand that bc its galician.
