The kjv is definitely more difficult but its also the closest to the word of God after the 1611. Regardless its meant to be studied, contemplated, used as a source of inspiration and guidance, one doesnt just simply "understand" the Bible outside of dedicated theologians who spend years studying it, and still argue over its meanings.

1611 KJV is my preferred translation. Maybe 90% of the language is comprehensible to the modern English speaker, you can search the other 10%. Once you learn enough archaic vocabulary it's a pleasure to read.
