Well, we're not Anglo-Saxon. We're English, the Norman conquest left its mark. But, English is our language. By your logic nobody is speaking their own language, the Normans spoke Old French, a romance language based on vulgar Latin and Frankish.

The Gaelic language was 'revived' but not really adopted. So, it isn't the same. An equivalent would be America slowly becoming Spanish speaking as opposed to embracing some Spanish words.

These are people who can't even speak their own language. In Gaelic, the language is called Gaeilge and Irish (as in the people) is Éireannach. So, it doesn't even make sense to call it Irish (and historically, it wasn't). But I guess it helps reinforce their fake national identity. After all, the Scottish and Manx have "Gaelic" too, so they wouldn't feel special having to share the term.
