No, not really. Communism was too big in the scale. Ideally there should be smaller communities, neighborhood size or similar, in which people do share and work for each other.
In general, for this type of system to work, you need to personally know each member of the community, otherwise it will always fail, because it's way way easier to steal or rip off those who you don't personally know.
