They aren't just using stored gas. Not everywhere buys the same percentage of gas from Russia either, for example the UK buys barely any and gets it all from the North Sea.

And yet the British are still experiencing a 5 fold increase in energy costs in the summer.

Prior the war the EU median percentage of gas import.s from Russia was 40%.

Surprise surprise, you cut off 40% of the gas for 2nd largest GDP in the world and it drives up energy prices globally.
