I was starting an online business. I used a certain web hosting service- not going to supply brand names- to begin building my website. Everything was going so well. I had a logo. I had a decent UX design in play. I created a little video to put on the front page to entice customers to stick around. There was one problem: my business email couldn't work. I had to go through ten different support agents in Malaysia to figure out what was wrong with it. Eventually, I demanded a refund for the defective product. As the female tech support agent was walking me through the process to get a refund, I realized they were trying to get me to unintentionally delete my domain name from their system, essentially opening it back up for it to be owned by this international company. And she seemed happy to fuck me over.

My first experience of any true feeling of racism was when I was in college and did a study abroad for a semester in Europe. I quickly learned that one had to be racist against gypsies, and that hating and avoiding them whenever you saw them, yelling at them if necessary, was the only rational manner for dealing with them. You can't give them a single courtesy, you must be automatically racist and mean to them if you don't want them to take advantage of you.

Even then, I still considered myself "woke" at the time and an anti-racist type, but I realized that did not apply to gypsies. Still, even when I was woke and actively against racism, I realized black communities had an extremely high rate of violence and criminality, which was the main reason that people were racist against them. A few years later after diving into a variety of studies, I realized it was likely genetic more than environmental or cultural, but even if it was the latter, that was no excuse. I don't hate black people, but I do make sure to avoid areas where I know there will be large numbers of them

It's pragmatic, though: if their criminality, aggression, and generally shitty behaviour is caused by something that merely covaries with their skin colour, then their skin colour is still a useful proxy for guiding your own behaviour.
