Decentralized messaging app for politics

I am pondering what an anonymous decentralized messaging app with crypto and blockchain tech would look like. Maybe a tree structure so you can post breadth wise to avoid posts meant to derail discussion. Posts destroy currency but successive replies pay in series to root so it costs to post but you get paid if you are in a line of posts that keeps getting replies. Torrent based so currency is created by those who host service, this way if feds want to post they have to support the network which is counter productive and their posts won’t get play any way because of tree structure so the incentive is lost. Currency is anonymous. Political discussion implications.

Dear confused,

If you want something decentralized, then you can't control it from the center without making it centralized. If any one person or rule controls access, then it is centralized.

If you decentralize control by allowing each person to exclude the posts of others, then the macro outcome has to be either that one group takes control by being the ones left, or that the forum separates into those that are excluded and those that are not. Both then are centralizations in the macro view.

Basically you are missing the point of what it is you are trying to do, because you are fooling yourself by your own confusion.

Either there is a media that all can participate in, or there is a media that is broadcast, or there is a media that is private that excludes those they don't like.

Choose. Then we can discuss "distributed networks" which have to do with the "medium" not the media or the message, which is what blockchain is used for.

But before you do that, you should look up the terms "hypocrisy" and "psychological projection."

You can sign a message on the bitcoin blockchain with a transaction. Encrypt your message with a private key. Much better than the likes of bitmessage. If you'd like a bit better privacy use Monero.

I was also thinking we should make a social network that is focused on memes making local friends, and meeting similar people, a built in photo editor, people can make their own custom algorithms for newsfeed priorities so we don't have anyone controlling who sees what.

I think I meant forum not messaging app. So it’s a public forum that is supported by torrent.

We need our own version of the web, not just messaging. We need a big incentive for people to switch, a whole redesign to make it more fun, social, and strengthen our bonds is a must.

I love this idea, thanks for coming up with this solution. What about measuring the "realness" of a post in terms of views or some kind of interaction it gets other than more posts? What's stopping fed shills from just shilling their own posts? They do print the money. Consider Any Forums - feds own it and keeping it online is more beneficial to them than closing it down because they can coopt the boards ideology.
We need users who have developed some type of reputation and weigh the posts/views/reads based on that maybe? Shills get outed easily but they can thrive in an environment where there is no interaction.

How can we implement real life politics in a bit torrent like fashion? Can a graph of human influence/connection IRL be ran by a bittorent like system with user tracker/peer swarms, where a leader gives objectives but the network can switch trackers it follows at any time in case they lose confidence in the leadership? This is kind of a blend of centralized/decentralized leadership.

And no I'm not talking about anything illegeal, the tracker would decide what canadiates to support/what causes etc. Even if the results aren't apparent to the seeders/peers (much like in real life). But this system at least holds them accountable and allows hot swapping the political leadership without sacrificing the network of actors.

We already solved decentralized forums before the www even existed, check out NNTP. Overcomplicating your design with fancy structures and crypto will mean no one will bother implementing it and it will become a one implementation design (practically the antithesis of decentralization).

Use existing technology, like I2P or Tor for anonymization and then build a chat application on top of it, but it's already been done before. Check out Tox, Retroshare, Briar and a few others I've forgotten.

This is easily the most cancer protocol in existence, speaking from a software development standpoint. Something like NNTP would be far better and way more simple. They've overcomplicated the design of Matrix to the point where even pagination is complicated... and yes, you can retrofit private groups into NNTP, and it's such a simple design that you slap I2P or Tor onto it and you've got a solution.

Question: Does the network have to be open source or would you trust closed source but likely uncracked by the feds encryption/decentralization protocol
