Is Putin unironically playing 4D chess with the west

Just something to keep in mind:

The EU and NATO as a whole will continue to cripple their own economies, so long as the war in Ukraine wages on. Western nations will continue to sanction Russia, and be cut-off from energy supplies, as well as lend vast amounts of financial support to Ukraine. This has devastating impacts on the socio-economic integrity of western nations. Prices go up, energy infrastructure is hindered, living standards go down, and so on. Enough of this will send western nations into social, political and economic failure. Russia, meanwhile, has been submitting itself to Chinese and Indian markets, and has practically retained from its previous economic disaster. Russia is a relatively stable nation, with great amounts of military power remaining.

It is within the interest of Russia to keep this war going for as long as possible. Russia may just in fact want to constantly give Ukraine a taste of victory. Putin knows he is driving the west into a willing economic suicide. You really though that Putin was stupid? After all his political strategy and his rise to power, you really thought he doesn't know what he is doing? This is a calculated man and a political genius. He is softening the west up for something later down the line.

Nah, it was a desperate move, he was preparing for years but wasn't ready yet. Europe is just shooting itself in the foot as usual, high energy prices and inflation aren't even just from Russia, Ukraine war was just the last straw at camel back, printing money and QE, ESG and COVID lockdowns is what fucked their economy

The gas cut can cost a lot. But it does not cost more than total war with Russia (even conventional). So this is a trade off. Give 100 billions to Ukies, lose 100 billions of GDP Eu Wide, and avoid a multiple trillion dollars future war. Is that simple. Putin is grinding down his attack force at an unprecedented rate and losing political power, the spooks are having boner after boner.

You might not know, but energy used to be dirt cheap in Northern Europe.
My electricity still costs less than 5 cents per kilowatt hour.
Luckily I made a 2 year deal back in 2021.
So when people say electricity prices rising say 300% it still doesn't mean they're something people couldn't pay.

I think it's all a ruse to drive fosil fuel prices so they, not just russia, can make the most amount of money until nuclear fusion becomes the standard. putin is just cooperating with the people who are playing chess, but it's just regular chess, unseen by us commoners.

It is bold strategy. But it he need more soldiers in Ukraine. Because last few days are big fail. Who fucking cares if its declared war or not. It is war against whole NATO.

I am suprised how badly EU is dealing with this situation. It is collapse and we aren't in winter yet.
