The reason people are willing to sacrifice themselves in war is because the ideals of their country are in fact more important than them. Being a soldier is an active way of making a difference to improve your country for the better if your country is under attack by powers that hold detestable ideals. That's why the reason why Charlemagne and even Vlad the Impaler are so revered by the people from their countries of origin. Without Vlad the entirety of eastern Europe would be Muslim and same goes for what is now France without Charlemagne.

Races certainly do exist, we can detect them at a genetic and subconscious level. Our brains are even able to pick up on the slightest genetic variations even within race to a point where, on average, our friends will have at least 1% similar DNA compared to a stranger in the same race. Empathy is tightly associated with genetic similarity, from babies to adults. Neurological scans and bias tests have found that we empathise more with people who are genetically similar to ourselves, even liberals who attempt to consciously bias themselves to be anti-racist end up showing subconscious racism in various scientific tests.

A nation has many definitions, almost all of them have real world existence. A nation, in its broadest sense is a combination of traits that members in a group share and the members identify with and seek to work in a common interest. The world nation is synonymous with race, people, and even ethnicity.

Now you next assumption is that working in the interest of race and nations is not advantageous. Biology has already decided that, at a high statistical level, identifying with race and nation is beneficial. It helps spread our genes and gives us a sense of common interest which is very important for self-defense and acquiring resources.

You don't need an institution or someone to direct you to find beauty, in my opinion there is beauty in whatever path you take, if you need other people to conform to some path for some reason or another, you are killing that individual beauty they possess
