I see. Though, what element will nationalism play in this decision though? I think this is what people are underestimating the most about this war is that it IS inspiring nationalism in Russia, which is a threat to Putin and his clique. There is a reason why saying “Russia is for Russians” has jail time attached to it. A defeat in Ukraine isn’t just because of Ukrainian spirit and Western support, but unspeakable amounts of corruption in even the highest positions of power in Russia. Oligarchs won’t have a way to funnel money out of the country thanks to sanctions.
