Any Forums, what are/were your thoughts on the Space Shuttle program? Was it a huge waste of time and money? I personally miss it a lot.

better than conman musk

incredibly based

it was cool when it first came out but it never reached it's designed and intended purpose. After awhile the cracks began to show and it became outdated. Towards the end, it seemed jenky as frigg. Spacex has innovated and brought the costs way down while increasing the number of launches and how much stuff has been put into space lately.

The Artemis thing just seems to be a bunch of leftovers thatched together with diversity and bullshit. NASA will learn you can't fly a spaceship on diversity.

Its only value is for entertainment purposes. If that thing ever gets off the ground, it has the largest potential to become the most expensive fireworks ever. NASA should save it for New Year's Day or Independence Day

A waste of money but a better waste of money than most government programs.

I want to see one launch in person, to feel and hear it

Hilariously inefficient over existing technology, but cool.

Manned spaceflight is pointless (although the space shuttle program helped us realize that) and a money sink. We're better off using cheap unmanned drones.

I loved how it flew down from space and landed like an airplane. Incredibly cool. Musk’s reusable rockets are fuckin incredible too.

What in the hell am I looking at?

We should've stuck with rockets. The shuttle wound up being way more expensive to operate than was originally proposed.

I was in Tampa visiting my brother/helping him move

Woke up super early for some reason and went out on his apartment balcony to smoke a cig

Ghetto type setup on the second floor with many other buildings around us

4:30 am see very bright light through two buildings very narrow gap Wtf is that? Realized it was the space shuttle going up.
The absolute odds of having woke up at the exact time to see it through a narrow gapof buildings. Will never forget

never happen
but still it was a better cinema than what mutts make nowdays
niggers niggers and more niggers

its a pict of bullshit sold to audio nuts that supposedly makes the sound better by keeping the cords off the ground and wrapped in EMI shielding mesh

govt subsidized program... spends more money and produces less, many such cases

Checked
>NASA will learn you can't fly a spaceship on diversity.
No kidding. We are seeing the difference between nazi scientists vs diversity hires.

Based, but didnt advance rocketry and other tech as much as it could have had. I thought we would have been much further ahead by now. Makes me wonder if the American military has other secret shuttles or some other manned presence in high earth orbit.

It killed the first biocunt astronaut, which makes it worthwhile in my book

Lmfao

Peak knuckledragger keeping his cords on the ground. You sound poor.

i crush thousands of lbs of those daily, get them from power company

and i dont know how they mess with sound if they do but the shielding works, got an old system with unshielded wires and it picks up people talking over radio waves

>reusing the shuttle costs more than building a fully expendable launch vehicle
>manned missions are mostly just a dick waving game with little purpose
>unmanned missions launched by the shuttle can only be boosted by the dinky payload assist module, might as well just use a little Delta 2 rocket
>no launch escape system, any problem inevitably kills the crew

Of course it's a waste of money. Space doesn't exist as we know it and we are unable to leave earth. It's all money laundering.

Why yes, I am poor and like my sound to match too

LeL
the only thing real about that ad is the paper it was printed on

If i remember correctly, the costs spiraled out of control when it was time to build the heat shield. They had to use these special tiles that had to be individually made. Each one was a custom fit so they couldnt be mass produced. Im pretty sure they had to be replaced after each mission too.

>Was it a huge waste of time and money?
yes
>I personally miss it a lot.
me too

I used to watch the shuttle lift off from my front yard. It was epic and awe inspiring.

t. Central Florida fag

Can't imagine how sweet that must have been.
