It's not really an anomaly, it's just a socially-directed form of handicap signalling. When sexual selection becomes more relevant than selection due to external pressures, many species evolve towards deliberately self-sabotaging behaviours in order to signal sexual fitness. For example male camels will deliberately waste water in the presence of females, even though water is scarce in their environment and most of their other adaptations are centred around conserving it. It's similar to how spoiled rich kids will burn money in order to signal their status. Only a high quality specimen could afford to make such wasteful displays, so they do it to mog other males in sexual competition. The lower quality males can try to fake-it-till-they-make-it, but because they are lower quality they are putting themselves at a greater risk by doing so, and this makes them more likely to darwin themselves. Some people suspect peacock tails etc and similarly impractical but flashy male bits are also an example of this.

In the case of the white leftist, sabotaging their own society is just a form of conspicuous consumption, it's a way of saying

are a meme for a reason. The people who are good natured but naive will typically start out sympathizing with the stated goals of the left, but will find themselves drifting away as they get older. If we think in terms of wisdom and intelligence (kind of like a capacity for translating experiences into wisdom) there is a very clear pattern imo.
The left appeals to the combination of high intelligence and low wisdom.
The right appeals to high wisdom regardless of intelligence.
Naive college STEM types (high intelligence + low wisdom) will typically start out left and drift right as they accumulate wisdom. Grug brains will typically be on the right because they just do what they've always been doing, and are thus making use of inherited wisdom, even if they lack the intelligence to synthesize it for themselves. Their experiences will then validate their inherited wisdom and thus they see no need to change their ways. Old people have have experienced a lot due to their long lives and even if lower intelligence reduces the efficiency with which experience is converted into wisdom, if you have lived long enough you will still accumulate plenty of wisdom even if it's not in the most efficient manner, hence the trend for people to shift right as they get older generally.

Feeling of being entitled to dictate moral norms.

Believing that their culture is universal thus every people should behave like them, destroying other peoples cultures in the process.
Obsession with material wealth.
Not understanding what real poverty means.
Measure the world according to white european standards instead of understanding other cultures.
Not taking responsability to damage done by others.
