have 3 solar panels installed at my house, they do their job during mid to late spring and summer but as soon as proper autumn comes good luck warming up anything in your house, you still have to revert to gas or elec for heating. Have fun charging your panels when the sun dips at 4 PM whenever the clouds decide to disperse.

they're not panels. Ther are literally glass tubes on a tank, the sun warms the water and then you have hot water in the house at all times. A couple of hours of sun are enough to do the job. I've only used the gas boiler only once in the last 6 years. We only use the gas in the kitchen.
