How are France, Spain and Portugal so independent from russian gas?
Where do they take the energy from?
Nuclear?
Norway?
Same for Sweden?

All of them have relations with countries that have a lot of natural gas like israel and buy it from them. Or in France's case they buy it from the Egyptians.

it's because your governments are lying, you get far more from Russia. Here's the scam explained:

Be Germany, use 100 units of gas per year. Buy 50 from Russia to use and buy 50 from elsewhere to use. Then buy another 50 from Russia and sell it to Spain, claim you only get 50% of your gas from Russia.

Be Spain. Buy 20% of gas from Germany, who is just reselling you Russian gas. Claim you buy no gas from Russia.

It used to be Algeria, until we pissed them off last year.

Countries in Europe sell energy back and forth all of the time. A huge amount comes from Russia but they claim less in public because they don't use it domestically. If Spain buys energy from France, who bought it from Germany, who bought it from Russia, it doesn't go onto the books as being purchased from Russia.

Buy a sweater, it gets cold in Spain in the winter, too.

It's Algeria but since Spain supports Morrocco which has an ongoing dispute with Algeria about Western Saharan independence. I think the Algerians even broke the cooperation treaty they had with Spain over this issue so that Algerian gas isn't a reliable source.
