There's no real difference. Hitler was a totalitarian nationalist which is what people on Any Forums like. Hitler was a revolutionary long before Mussolini created the fascist party, fascism was just a vehicle. Fascism was a left wing creation created prior to globohomo domination of the left, and it was created in response to what Mussolini thought of as unacceptable influence from Moscow in the socialist party (COMINTERN, globohomo precursor) and it was created to basically be a socialism with the nation state as the base unit whereas a more Marxist-Leninist approach wanted Italy to suffer and fight for the implementation of global communism. Fascism remained pretty left wing under the NDSAP including the tight centralized control of domestic labor and commodity markets including price setting. Basically his totalitarian tendencies came out through the course of the war as things became increasingly desperate. For example, in the early days he was willing to purchase Madagascar for the jews and allow them to freely leave, however prior to internment if you wanted to leave as a jew you would be expected to leave and renounce your material possessions as a combination of WW1 reparations to the German people and contribution to the war effort.

So what is it do people on Any Forums like about fascism? Well few can answer because few have any sort of actual understanding of what fascism was per se (i hate this phrase but writing 'by itself' somehow seems more pretentious). Fascism has no real meaning anymore because at the point where its many co-opted meanings have been used longer and more prolifically in the political lexicon it is simply no longer useful as a word outside of it being used as a low brow smear against either the excesses of the right or as a cynical smear against the total ideological captivation of the left. 100% meaningless now.

And I disagree that fascism has no meaning anymore. It has more meaning today then it did back then. Fascism is when you kill the lender, fascism is when you annihilate the landlord, fascism is when you have a family, fascism is when you put a knife to the throat of a dirty capitalist. Then there's no point in invoking fascism because a lot of this stuff only applied to Germany due to the historical context of Versailles and Weimar. That's the struggle that resonates with people.
