I'm seriously considering a move to San Francisco to be with someone I met online, and also due to how lgbt friendly the city is (I'm a gay dude).
One thing that concerns me is criminal activity. For such a prosperous city it does seem to have a lot of bad shit going on. There's a sense of true lawlessness.
I mean, check the video - people are openly doing crack sales in the street. When a concerned citizen records the dealers, they respond by smashing his window.
Would you move there to be with someone you cared for?

In parts of the tenderloin, armed cartel members patrol street corners to deter crime. They don’t want the cops showing up if some techie gets shot by a crackhead. The cartel does more work for public safety than the police.
There are blocks where the sidewalk is packed with goods to sell, almost entirely stolen from shops or car break ins. Laptops, cases of deodorant, shoes etc. They take the cash from the sales and turn around to the dealers who hang out there to immediately buy and consume their drug of choice right at the “market.” Cops don’t do shit.
