Yes, because Judges are often elected too. The US government is a system of checks and balances. Judges, elected or appointed, have a right to remove other elected officials from office so long as they are not superior court Justices. This is checked by how courts cannot start investigations on their own, and ultimately do not enforce their own dictums. Such was the case when Jackson banned all the indians and sent them to Oklahoma, in defiance of the Supreme Court which lacked the ability to arraign him on contempt of court charges.
