Yes, I think empathy is only a veneer. Most people dont care about tiny freakish minority groups or conflicts halfway around the world. At root most of clown world relies on insecure, oversocialized individuals who are desperate to fit in. It's not about actually caring about the issues, it's about being part of the "enlightened" group and not the group that gets mocked by late night talk show hosts.

ASPD isn't about not having empathy for random people it's about not having empathy for an innocent person as you're harming them.
