If i had to gues it would be economically worse with the much higher wind resistance along with upgraded infrastructure to sustain such high speeds, Also on your picture you have a goods train and a public transportation train which do completely different tasks.
Having goods delivered fast is not as important with a good schedual and several trains on track. USA does not boast with technology where its not needed like the paper tiger China does.
