Not bad in a good house, but a lot of the cheap post-war pre-fab housing that working class still live in are miserable in conditions like that. They get cold, they get damp, they take ages to heat up because of simgle-glazing. It's none too pleasant to live in them even if not spoiled by easy access to central heating.
