Should Gibson be able to sue guitar manufacturers who copy their body styles?

No, any legal notion of intellectual property should be globally abolished, without exception. Once you release something into the public, be it a song, a film, an electronic device, whatever, everyone should be allowed to copy it, including the brand name, and sell it. Anyone who has the slightest problem with this is invited to keep their creation to themselves. The only true argument against my idea is "But then I can't get rich", to which I counter with: "Yeah."

this doesn't incentivize invention.

>this doesn't incentivize invention.
why do you argue with freetards?
They don't care, they truly just want everything given to them, and you will never convince them otherwise

Incentivizing invention is not a good enough reason for holding an entire planet hostage to oppressive intellectual property laws. If invention only works by oppressing an entire planet, then fuck invention.

topic is law. fuck off and go post in a tranny thread.

It’s controversial but I agree. IP is just used to bully people, take pot shots at suing people and all it really does is stagnate tech. People say money is the reason people invent things but IP is also the reason why many inventions never see the light of day. A lot of industrial research is never shared publicly because “IP”, but it’s barely ever shared internally either. 95% of the research I have done personally has been locked away while retarded purse string holders wring their hands over “IP”. It’s such a waste.

Nope. Our system was setup to give a few years of copyright protection, and that's it. Our current copyright laws are a disaster because of Disney and other massive corporations using their money and influence to extend protections far beyond what they should be.

Should Band-Aid get to sue other bandage makers for copying their style?

This.

copyright along with usury originates from a kike`s mind. They glorified it until the masses accepted it. Only a kike would only work for currency thus needs copyright to move a finger. Also it shows lack of belief in a higher power since copyright is only ethically okay if you think that ideas are generated inside of us instead of being a universal thing

Neither does patent law when the patent courts are owned by the big guys and they steal your shit anyway.

No.

gibson guitars are nice but extremely over priced and overrated. plus in current year i wouldnt be surprised if theyre all made in some chink sweatshop overseas anyway

wtf why are there so many les paul threads recently, also no they shouldn’t and fuck them for suing over the v shape

they’re hypocrites because they sell dreadnought guitars that martin invented

btw kramer was bought by gibson some time ago and now they create lp style body guitars. i own one and its actually fairly impressive. the build quality is pretty shit though i had to tighten the locking nut since it was clicking and had to touch up the paint in a few places, but it really is a nice guitar for sub $400
its also made in some chink sweatshop.

No, there's a limited number of reasonable guitar shapes

>wtf why are there so many les paul threads recently
It's the best guitar shape followed closely by GS.

fuck off and stop spying on American Citizens for the profit of other nations, Elon.

how identical does it have to be to be considered a rip off anyway? you could sand the little dip behind the bridge a couple extra mm deep and is it still a rip off?
it should only be an issue if the instrument has a gibson logo on it, then thats just a plain counterfeit

Gibson should be sued for what they did to Epiphone.

No-patents absolutely incentivizes invention because "newness" and innovation then become some of the only things that give you a market advantage. With patents, you get market dominance by paying off the government and inhibiting other advancements that could make your patent obsolete.

Also, without patents, craftsmanship and value suddenly become paramount. Whoever can make the best version of the design wins.
>why spend money on R&D then?
Because if you R&D something, you should have superior technical knowledge on how to produce it. And if producing it is easy, then maybe you didn't really R&D as much as you say you did.

Gibson should be sued for letting their QC drop so far. Like Bose, they keep selling based in their name but eventually someone is gonna catch on

t. a retarded fucking nigger who's never poured their own blood, sweat, tears, time, and money to take risks to develop something new, so their attitude is basically "gibme dat fo' free"
