whst the FUCK???? LMFAOOO they actually need a license to WATCH TV. theres a whole sector of their police department that goes door to door asking for TELEVISION LICENSES and theyre subject to fine (500 quid) or IMPRISONMENT for watching tv without their license on them.

>theres a whole sector of their police department that-
No there isn't. The entire thing relies on letters to old grannies to scare them into paying it. It's essentially a tax which you pay if you use a TV for watching live broadcasts. Nobody has ever been sent to prison for not paying a fine associated with the TV loicence.

I have family in Holwick and can confirm this is true. As my grandmother put it, it connects with the telephone license and she needed it present to call out of the country.

Just pay for internet and or a VPN and just pirate shows or find a website with shows on it

Half the countries in the world have tv licenses, people just only ever mention the UK's for some reason.

Also "TV license" is a misnomer, it's not a license to watch tv it's basically a fee you have to pay to watch The BBC, if you have TV's and never use them to watch The BBC then you don't need a license

>it connects with the telephone license and she needed it present to call out of the country.
Yeah, that telephone license is a pain. I was young and brash and thought I was being clever by not getting my telephone license, but then I got caught and now I'm doing 300 hours community service

Are you 10 years old?

I don't bother with some of the licenses.
I haven't paid my pavement license in years (license you need for walking on the 'sidewalk') and never had an issue.
Though a mate of mine recently got into trouble for mowing his front garden without a horticulture license.

>pavement license
Mate, don't confuse the foreigners with these made-up licenses. It's bad enough that the world is laughing at us over the horticulture license.

In Belgium you get taxed on TVs. Any antennae or dish and you get taxed. Also, if you want to BBQ outside. You have to write the king and ask for permission first. It's just a formality, but still.

yes the proceeds go to fund the (((BBC))) and they send out hi-vis wearing chomos to harass you and break in to sniff your children's underwear. They'll use signit level hardware and listening vans, which they dont really use but do. basically it's some complicated shit and hiring a dude to get pissed on by some norfies over 20 quid just doen't make for an attractive career choice for anybody with an iq above lukewarm water.

in britain they tag meat with RFID chips in the packaging in case shoplifters decide to steal some steak

FTFY

We used to have the same thing in Sweden. Now it's just a forced tax to pay for the state media

We may pay for TV but your country has a black market for a kids chocolate treat because your government doesn't think you're capable of eating them without choking to death.

>the police
Lol
Retard.

Just need to say i don't need one. There, that's it, simple as, end of ,jobs a goodun.
t. Don't have one.

You're supposed to have a licence to watch any broadcast TV.
You don't even need to say that. Just ignore them.

we have to pay even if we do not own a TV

Owning a Car ( it has a radio ) , or a smartphone ( you could watch it ) is enough here to pay for a similar thing to the TV licence

Most of Europe has a TV license system.
