The GOP is being incredibly retarded on this whole issue. The OBVIOUS thing to do is to hurt the university system itself by demanding that all the forgiven debt come right out of university endowments. Universities are the ones getting federal money to offer these degrees in the first place. Instead, Republicans are leaving the universities alone while focusing ENTIRELY on individual debtors. It's not possible to be this dumb unless it is intentional sabotage/bribery.
Ted Cruz is also one of those hypocritical faggots who whines about 'muh fiscal conservatism' while giving money away to foreign nations. I suspect that he is a foreign agent, in fact (pic related). He's not being a real 'fiscal conservative' here, since the fiscal conservative position would be to end government-backed student loans in the first place, and force universities to sink or swim on their own.

Unironically yes. The last thing they want to do is end up with enough senate seats to remove Biden from office. They want to spend the next 2 years milking impeachment trials against him and can’t have too big of a majority for it to go anywhere. The same thing can be said for the majority in general. If you get too big of a majority, then you can’t use Mitt Romney to say “aw shucks we wanted to pass this monumental conservative bill but that dang rino Romney stopped us again! If the republicans had a veto proof majority in the house and the senate had enough people to push it through when accounting for defectors, then it gets vetoed and the veto gets overturned. Republicans don’t want that, democrats really don’t either, they like using Romney and Manchin as their “oh no, aw man, darn it, we tried!” fall guys.
Both sides are trying to lose because the economy is going to crash and remain in a deep recession for at least 3 years. Nobody wants that in their record. Old fucks are retiring this year.
