Why are seatbelts a thing that people are so passionate about? It’s the weirdest thing to me, and one law that makes no sense. The only arguments I’ve heard (about how it effects anyone but but you) is that you could “become a projectile and injure someone else” which is fucking absurd.
People will get upset over the issue. “I had a family member who died cause they weren’t wearing a seatbelt >:@“ alright well I don’t go telling fat people that my aunt died of a heart attack from being obese.
I feel like seatbelts and the way the issue was presented back in the day by the news/media was one of the greatest psyops.
(Car seat/seatbelt laws for minors make sense cause you’re responsible for their safety. But giving a ticket to an adult who chooses not to wear a seatbelt is an insane concept).

When you injur yourself, especially in a country like ours with public health care, you are affecting more than just yourself in resources and labor. The ambulance, the hospital visit, the medical care, the medical supplies, or even just the guy who's paid to scrub your brains off the pavement. All of these are resources paid by the public. That is the argument for why others want to force you to take a precaution to minimize it.

The amount of laws they could implement because healthcare is insane. Liquor stores and fast food joints on every corner cause lifelong chronic conditions, and my one owie no seatbelt car accident is gonna be a huge burden on taxpayers. Not a good argument

If you watch the rekt threads /gif/ you will see that this is not absurd. Bodies being thrown out of cars in a crash is very common and they become wrecking balls.
Even minor crashes cause injury whiplash is extremely common in low speed crashes. Even at 30mph if u get ejected especially in a rollover or head on your chances of dying are very high, while staying in the seat even in a 20mph crash is def gonna cause whiplash.
