That's obvious for the same reason you never want unchecked power in a country or on earth. Multi-polarity benefits THE PEOPLE of the world at the cost of the global political class who only want to concentrate their power (globalism). More power regions = people benefit. The very basis of American government is built on this very principle; there's no reason to assume the principle doesn't apply at a global level. Decentralized distributed power would be the ultimate manifestation of this principle but we are a ways-off from that.

We live in world framed by new enlightenment governing principles that were derived from the flaws and excesses of concentrated power in European Monarchies and Old World Theocracies. Now imagine not understanding that globalism and unipolarity are just a proxies for effective global monarchism: the rule by the one or the few for the many. Fundamentally this developing dynamic we call "globalism" is an anti-representative government movement, anti-western, and anti-enlightenment movement. The fact it is most represented by politicians and billionaires is no accident (the king supports monarchy... is le shocking!).
Every Monarchy also had an aristocracy. Today's version is the international business class and not-so-free media class since like aristocracy, both survive off government subsidy. This dynamic is just like the old world aristocracy which needed the King's financial and legal patronage, ergo "his favor".

The Industrial Revolution did much to concentrate power in the political and international economic class and who see each other as natural political allies; one passing measures and laws to protect each other at the cost of the people they supposedly represent in their "representative republic." It makes sense to retain the technological advances we've gained whilst undoing the gordian knot of corrupt power that has occurred via the gradual merger between business and state.
