I did this abroad actually (in Romania)
I got caught after 3 weeks when I was about to leave the country because of a mix of luck on the cops side (or at least they told me so don't know if they were following me or anything) and carelessness: I wore the same jacket and backpack I wore when I committed the crime cuz you know it was 2 in the fucking morning on a weekday and I had to walk only about 15 mins to the bus that would take me to the airport
