Basically this. I'll add some analysis of my own: the class basis of "populist" rightoids (encompassing everything from MAGA diehards, to conspiracy theorists up to outright fascism) comes from the petty proprietor class. This does not mean that all its adherents are petty bourg these days, but the leading activists certainly are. Look at the class composition of the Jan 6th insurrectionists for instance.
Anyway, the significance of this class standpoint is that the big capitalists have the money to risk forming conspiracies (everything from price-fixing to elite groups like Bilderburg). The working class on the other hand, because they have nothing to lose (but their chains), also have an incentive to form conspiracies, everything from labor unions up to communist political parties. The petty proprietors, on the other hand, don't have the ability to collude with other members of their class against the market. This is why you see their contradictory views of worshiping free market capitalism while also demonizing its logical outcomes. To them, the problem isn't the capitalist system, it's that capitalism has allegedly been "hijacked" by shadowy groups of conspirators - today the "globalists", but also back during the cold war they heavily focused on communist conspiracies. For the petty proprietor "middle class", they're two sides of the same coin.

Rightoid conspiracy theorists aren't completely wrong that the ruling class conspires in elite groups (the WEF, CFR, Bilderburg, etc.) to determine the grand strategy of the empire. However, seeing this for what it is - a class conspiracy to make more money - would raise uncomfortable structural critiques that would expose their class position to the proletariat. This is where the batshit conspiracy theories come in - the richest capitalists aren't evil because they steal from the working class, it's because they secretly drink the blood of children in Satanic rituals and plot to exterminate the majority of humanity, and then force the minority that's left to merge with AI computers and become cyborg slaves of Satan.
