Ranked Choice is vastly superior to FPTP because it allows third parties to legitimately exist without acting as a spoiler. The whole concept of a 'spoiler' no longer exists in RCV, so you can vote libertarian or whatever, and not be worried you'll accidentally help Dems get elected
Just because it occasionally doesn't go your way doesn't mean it's a bad idea, it's literally the only way out of the two-party duopoly
