No there was a flood, but you have to remember the "world" to them back then might have well been the size of the valley or whatever fucking geographical lowpoint floodzone they lived in at the time. It's not like these people got out a lot; I imagine people thousands of years ago didn't travel much beyond the village and had a very distorted sense of geography & perspective.
