there was never any justification for that massive price spike, it was just companies using a crisis as an excuse to crank up the price and make mad extra cash, they already did it with gas (as in, the car fuel) before they swapped over to gas (for heating and electricity).
laws in Germany are pretty much 100% written by lobbyists so companies are allowed to do whatever they want.
they even tried to tell us that the failure of one of the recent laws can't just be blamed on the minister of economy because the companies also had a lot of input on it and thus carry part of the blame.

Storing gas is hard because it takes up a lot of volume. Gas storage is notoriously limited in europe and the EU. My point is that the price of electricity will experience a lot of volatility.
Last winter russia was still sending gas over. this winter they will send no gas.
So prices will go to 5000.

It's the market price if you buy it from the market, not the price in Germany.

Currently the gas prices in Europe are pure speculation of fairy investors that just hike up the prices in fear of gas shortages without any reason. Germany filled their gas reserve sooner than expected to gas prices start to fall, also there are a lot of LNG tankers ordered that will arrive in Europe in next months. EU is also talking about changing euro energy price tariff system to exclude gas prices from the overall calculations. Energy prices will be higher but that current spike of 1000% is just speculation currently.

Their fascination with gas goes beyond ovens and industry. Some things are better left undiscovered.

They're not going to freeze or face shortages of power. All the natural gas they will ever need is now imported from elsewhere. Russia can burn the gas it can no longer sell to anyone and cope but thats not going to mean anything anymore.

Russa doesn't have a monopoly on natural gas user. Its supplies less than 10 of global sources. Europe buys from elsewhere now. All its reserves are above where they were when this war began now.

And europe is getting that.
