This counteroffensive is a couple of days old.
Ukraine are exploiting relatively thinly held Russian defences.
The aim is to squeeze them out slowly and allow Russian forces to retreat.
What I am basically saying is Ukrainian forces are not rushing in, so can't be getting slaughtered en masse and it is too soon to know if their tactics will be successful.

Ukraine has been incapable of doing battalion level operations since the beginning of the war so your theory makes absolutely no fucking sense. The Ukrainian strategy was formulated in WW2 by the germans and it's known as Festung basically digging in and turning cities into fortresses (i.e mariupol, kiev and odessa) the secure supply lines by having consecutive lines of trenches aka defense in depth. Ukraine just doesn't have the mechanization level or the logistics for a counter attack. If you knew any fucking thing about tactics you would know this.
