Ever play a video game where you cast a certain type of spell on an enemy and it has the opposite of the intended effect? Like casing a healing spell on an undead enemy and it hurts instead of heals them? Drone strikes are kind of like that. You think you're killing 20 people in a village, but what you're actually doing is creating 40 new recruits for the Taliban. Except in a video game, after one or two attempts you catch on and stop doing what you're doing, but in real life you keep doing it for 20 years and never learn your lesson.
