usually car mirrors detach by removing some nuts inside the car with the door open. You have to remove a small panel or the entire inner door panel in some cases to remove the mirror. They are designed to sort of yank out and strip out if you hit something so you just lose the mirror and don't take damage to the door.
This guy most likely owns the car and some dumb bitch in a minivan whacked it off and drove off while screaming about that patriarchy. Since its a power mirror if it wasn't whacked too hard he probably found it hanging limply on the side of his car and is trying to shove it back in. Sometimes shoving the mirror back in works temporarily but regardless you are not shoving it back in with the door open.
