My entire household has been running off of six little solar panels for a decade now, paid for themselves in three years, nothing but free electricity since.

It certainly has it's uses.

>Son, turn off the computer we have to conserve energy.

What a fucking waste of money. Look at the size of all those mirrors compared to the cars.

Kek, it's better than you might think I run two PC's 24/7 on top of all the regular household shit and i'm still getting paid for putting power back into the grid, not even close to using what I even produce. A lot of that is down to just how much fucking sun we get though.

The thing in OPs picture is not a solar panel farm. Those are mirrors redirecting the sunlight to create an insane amount of heat. Called a Molten Salt power plant or something.
I believe that plant in particular is in Nevada, I drive past it going to and from Vegas. If I recall I watched a youtube video explaining how the plant was a big waste of time and money and practically useless.

Why does everyone ignore Nuclear?
There's literally zero reason why we shouldn't use it.

Because the majority of the American population is uneducated when it comes to nuclear. All they know is Chernobyl, TMI, and Fukushima. They've been lied to for the past few decades and it has set nuclear energy back considerably.

>I believe that plant in particular is in Nevada
considering what I see in the background, whoever built it are retards

can you see it ? can you spot the issue? Top right, FUCKING SAND DUNES
sand dunes are created by sand being carried in the wind constantly, meaning they built this in a place that is going to get constantly covered by sand, and they haven't even built some sort of structure to stop either the sand or the wind around it

My prediction is that this thing is a nightmare for maintenance alone, all because those who built it had the brillian idea of building reflectors on the floor layer in an active sand dune desert.

>Why does everyone ignore Nuclear?
It's too efficient and low maintenance, not enough of a profit margin in it.

Wait until you see the solar farms in Germany covered in snow kek

>Wait until you see the solar farms in Germany covered in snow kek
at least that one isn't that bad, you can avoid being blasted by sand in dozens of way, snow, if there is snow above you you can't avoid it
plus, snow cleans itself completely when it melts
AND, it doesn't really matter, because there won't be a lot of light anyways when there is snow, so it gets blocked at the time it matters least

however, good luck trying to get rid of tiny sand grain that act like sandpaper when you try to wipe them off, that are electrically bounded to the pannels, that are only there because you were too stupid to build your farm anyways except a moving dune, and too lazy to make any sort of countermeasure to the sand. Way worse than snow, in every way.

The crescent dunes solar energy project(op pic) was a failure, the company that ran it went bankrupt and had to be taken over by the department of energy. The cost of electricity was upwards of 5 times as much as even a shitty regular solar farm.

Also the molten salt tended to leak.

Looks like there's some satanic faggotry symbolism in the building layout, as is with everything these pedo faggots touch.

Where are the outgoing transmission lines?

It's cheaper and quicker to build renewables, so utilities can hit their ESG goals faster. The Plant Vogtle expansion in Georgia expansion has been a disaster that's taken years longer to construct and gone billions of dollars over budget. Westinghouse, the reactor manufacturer, had to file for bankruptcy because it's been such a fuck up.

Thanks to Vogtle, Summer in South Carolina, and Crystal River in Florida all being failures, nobody in the utility sector wants to attempt to build another large nuclear reactor. For now, there's a rough plan to maybe try building smaller modular nuclear reactors based on what's in submarines, but those are maybe 10 years out.

t. utility fag

Do you really want that with increasing shitskin population and forced diversity hires?

underground obviously

What was the problem with the crystal river plant? Why the hell did it shut down?

here;s my favorite solar power system:

youtube.com/watch?v=I9HaIsF0VuA

IT's called a trough solar thermal power plant, it uses solar reflective troughs to focus the suns heat onto a coolant pipe (filled with oil,) and it transports the heated oil into a boiler to produce steam.

The BEST part about this power plant, is that since it's a thermal steam plant, you can add a gas or coal burner onto it, to produce electricity through either free sunlight, or during the night and darker seasons, just use regular burnable shit to produce electricity.

>They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I have a theoretical degree in physics.

There was a problem with the concrete in a cooling tower that caused cracks to form over time. Something like the sand used during construction was slightly different than what the engineers had assumed during the design. Once cracks started appearing there were concerns that they could eventually start causing bigger problems, so the plant was decommissioned and replaced with natural gas.

user, this is not a real structure. This is an ad.

its funny it took actually building it to see it didnt make economic sense to actually run it

Ive driven by the Ivanpah one several times on the way from Tehachapi to Vegas

Shit man, even in Ontario about a third of the houses on my block have solar panels on their roofs, and we do just fine during the winter, courtesy of Toronto Hydro.

Californians literally have no excuse for still using coal, it’s retarded.
