Why is this every Any Forumsteen's favorite book? do you actually think it is superior to realist fiction like War & Peace, Ulysses, or Les Miserables?
just admit you can't focus on a story if there aren't any wizards and dragons, capeshitters.

If you weren't an orphan you'd know that most of our parents read it to us before bed, when we were a bunch of little shits.

Yes. Oranges are superior to apples.

No other fictional world was as consistent and well developed. Except maybe Dune.

purity of essence and integrity of form

It also wasn't some Mary Sue hero replacment fantasy. It was a real story in a real world with very little over the top action.

Most of the choices the characters make end up being the wrong ones, just like IRL.

lord of the rings lacks authenticity other folklore got
so the iliad, authentic folktales and most of grims fairytales are superior

I know it's unpopular to say this but it's a tedious read. The world building is fantastic but the way it's written isn't very engaging. He spends more time on finding a meal for the hobbits and songs than he does the combat. Here's a few paragraphs on this important battle meanwhile here's an entire chapter about how hungry the hobbit's are.

I lacks proper pacing and fucks up by having suspense combat scenes followed
by long winded hobbit misery, I skipped some of the repetative monotone mordor scenes

enviromental description often overshadows character dialogue and development

a masterpiece compared to GRR martin who can only write decent shortstories and creates a clusterfuck of unreadable garbage

in tolkiens work the payoff of the character arcs was great
the movies for example never get back to the cave in helmsdeep
never have sams gift by galadriel shown in real action and the character development
of merry and pipin demonstrated

It's really cool.

This is true. Reading a full page about describing a door is painful. The films were great because they cut out all the unnecessary descriptions that were far too long.

This book was my jam

You are not white.

Food was a big part of Hobbit culture just like fighting was an important part of troll culture. When you talk about cowboys it’s about dust and wide open spaces, the smell of sweat and cows. Hobbits are social creatures and concern themselves more with treating guests right than planning for war all the time. Tolkien was trying to build an innocent naive culture that made the onset of war all that more horrific even without the gory details of the battle field. It was basically the d of innocence and facing the horrors of the real world. Bilbo and the other hobbits always gave the impression of being a mature teen, always on the threshold of adulthood but never really quite crossing that threshold.

>it's a tedious read
for you

I read LOTR when I was 8. you didnt learn to read until you were 25, nigger

Don't worry, trannies are coming soon enough to ruin it with a new revised LGBT version. Just like video games, music, movies and everything else.

Are you ready? Soon they will make Any Forums like Kiwi farms is.

I don't care. I still have copies of the book and movies, so I can just read/watch those.
