There used to be a thing in both of our countries where you had to accept legal tender regardless if you wanted to or not. People would protest pay tickets with pennies and shit. Common misconception. There's no federal law saying businesses have to accept cash; they can accept only barter if they want. A few states have must-accept-cash laws now tho.
